Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky (45%)

Nikka Coffey Malt is a Japanese whisky bottled at 45%, made from malted barley mash distilled in a Coffey still. This continuous column still is normally used for grain whisky, and Nikka is thought to be alone in using it for malt. Nikka has two Coffey stills at its Miyagikyo distillery, brought over from Scotland in 1963. The still takes its name from Aeneas Coffey, the Irish-born inventor who patented it in 1830. The whisky is described as having a surprisingly rich texture.
