Yoichi Single Malt is a peated Japanese single malt from Nikka, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. Its finish shows the influence of maturation in bourbon casks, in vanilla and milk caramel.
The nose is firm and fleshy, moving between candied lemon and exotic fruit, with vanilla, then clove, pepper and nutmeg, and fresh verbena and tarragon. On the palate vanilla and praline come first, then citrus and ripe pear and plum, with a liquorice note before honeysuckle, lily and cardamom. The finish is long and peppery, with fine ash and smoke, and sweet orange and mango on the aftertaste.
