Octomore 16.1 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 59.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from 100% Scottish mainland Concerto barley, malted to 101.4 PPM.
The whisky was aged for 5 years in first-fill bourbon barrels.
The nose combines sea spray and orchard fruits with peat smoke, dried heather, camomile, vanilla bean and toasted almond, with cedar, smoked paprika and iodine behind. On the palate, gentle peat smoke leads to salted caramel, honeyed melon and apricot, then cinnamon, star anise, chocolate and coconut.
