Octomore 16.3 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, part of Octomore Series Sixteen. It is distilled from Concerto barley grown at Octomore Farm, in Church Field, and has a phenol level of 189.5 PPM.
It matured for 5 years in a combination of bourbon, Sauternes and Pedro Ximenez casks, and was bottled at 61.6% vol in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is dense peat smoke with honeyed malt, toasted grain, citrus zest and sea salt, plus fig, raisin and vanilla. On the palate sweet malt, caramel and dark dried fruit meet spicy oak, with earthy, maritime smoke. The finish is very long, salty and smoky, with cocoa, toffee and dried fruit.
