Octomore 17.2 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at a cask strength of 59.5% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
After five years it was matured in ex-bourbon casks together with European sweet wine and sherry casks, such as Oloroso and Amarone.
The nose is described as dense, medicinal and earthy wood smoke with ripe plums, dried figs, bitter chocolate and toasted oak. The palate brings smouldering peat, raisins, dark forest berries, caramelised nuts and peppery spice. The finish is very long, mixing dry smoke with fruity sweetness.
