This is Omar Fruity Ape, a 2015 limited edition single malt from Taiwan, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in virgin oak casks rather than ex-bourbon or sherry casks.
Omar is a Taiwanese distillery, and the whisky matures in the island's subtropical climate.
The nose is ripe mango, pineapple and guava with vanilla bean, toasted coconut and light baking spices. The palate is rich and viscous, with orchard fruits, candied citrus peel and oak spice of cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit and sweet oak.
