Port Charlotte 10 Year Old is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, made entirely on Islay from Scottish barley. The peating level is given as around 40 ppm. It is bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof) in a 750ml bottle, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured.
The whisky spends ten years in a mix of first-fill American whiskey casks, second-fill whiskey casks and French wine casks.
The nose combines smoked barley, sea spray, toasted oak and lemon zest. On the palate come rich peat smoke, vanilla cream, charred citrus, malt sweetness and hints of honey and spice. The finish is long, smoky and salty, with lingering oak and warm malt.
