Lucky Bastard is a 30-year-old single barrel Canadian whisky from Rare Hare, part of Playboy Spirits, bottled at 44.5% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It is one of 2,500 bottles.
The whisky matured in Canada for three decades, then spent 120 days finishing in Pineau des Charentes casks. Pineau des Charentes is a French fortified wine made from fresh grape must and Cognac eau-de-vie.
The nose is delicate and sweet, with vanilla bean, golden raisin, honeycomb and gingerbread. The palate brings browned butter, young coconut, anise and rye spice, and the finish is long, with ripe plantain, banana peel and gentle oak tannins.
