Royal Reserve is a Canadian whisky, sold here in a 1.14 litre bottle. The brand rose to fame in the 1960s and 70s, when cocktails were in fashion, and bartenders are returning to whiskies like this for their subtle character and their use in mixing.
The nose offers honey, burnt almond and sweet caramel, leading to a light, smooth palate.
