This is the 2023 release of Springbank 18 Year Old, a Campbeltown single malt in a 70cl bottle. It was vatted from 65% sherry, 20% bourbon and 15% rum casks, which makes it more sherried than a bourbon-matured 18 usually is.
The spirit is lightly peated, at 5PPM, and distilled two and a half times.
The nose brings smoked red fruits, sea salt and well-integrated peat. On the palate there are cranberry, blackcurrant, dark chocolate and freshly turned soil, followed by a long finish of digestive biscuit, spent coffee grounds and a little smoke.
