This is a 20 year old Springbank from Campbeltown, distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2024 for the Springbank Society. It is drawn from four single casks matured in fresh Port barrels, giving 2,700 bottles, 1,350 of them full size. This one is a 35cl bottle at 76% ABV.
The nose is dusty burlap, potato skin, red berries, cranberries and tomato plants. The palate has greengage, red apples, burnt toffee, a savoury umami note and a dusty dunnage character. The finish is lip-smacking and a little tart after the sweeter opening notes.
