The Dalmore 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt from the distillery at Alness on the Cromarty Firth, which has made whisky there since 1839. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The whisky spends nine years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then three years in Matusalem oloroso sherry casks. The stag's head on the label refers to the Mackenzie clan crest.
The nose is rich and warming, with marmalade, dark chocolate, caramelised orange, vanilla and a hint of espresso. The palate is full and rounded, with chocolate orange, warm Christmas spice, ripe plum and buttery toffee. The finish is long, with spice, dark fruit and bittersweet cocoa.
