The Dalmore – Luminary No. 2 16 Years Old 2024 Edition (75cl, 48.6%)

This is the second release in The Dalmore's three-part Luminary Series, a collaboration with the V&A Dundee design museum. Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass worked with Melodie Leung of Zaha Hadid Architects, who designed the copper-coloured vortex case inspired by a bird's eye view of the stills. The 16 year old Highland single malt matured first in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then was finished in Graham's Tawny Port pipes and 30 year old Apostoles sherry casks. A touch of rare peated Dalmore spirit is included. It is bottled at 48.6% in a run of 20,000 bottles, with natural colour and no chill filtration. The nose brings Manuka honey, crème brûlée and antique leather, with pomegranate, guava and cherry blossom. On the palate come ripe figs and Seville oranges.
