The Dalmore Luminary No. 3 is a 17 year old Highland single malt, the 2025 release in the Luminary series, a collaboration between The Dalmore and V&A Dundee. Ben Dobbin of Foster + Partners designed the packaging, inspired by his experience of tasting the whisky.
It was matured first in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, then given a seven-cask finish that includes vintage Calvados, Matusalem and Apostoles Oloroso sherry butts, and red wine barriques from Bordeaux and Chateauneuf-du-Pape. It is bottled at 49.2%, non-chill filtered and without added colour, in an outturn of 20,000 bottles.
The nose is pear, green apple, Madagascan vanilla, cinnamon and rose water. The palate is butterscotch and baked apple, with dark cacao, liquorice and soft wood spices.
