The Dalmore Port Wood Reserve is a Highland single malt from The Dalmore distillery in Alness, Ross-shire, bottled at 46.5% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
It is matured first in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished in port pipes from W&J Graham, a Douro Valley port house. The port adds dark fruit, blackcurrant and dried plum to the vanilla and toffee of the bourbon casks and the chocolate and orange character of Dalmore.
The nose is dark berry fruit, dried plum, chocolate orange, caramel and vanilla. The palate is full and warming, with dark fruit, spice, toffee and dark chocolate. The finish is long, with port sweetness, spice and bittersweet cocoa.
