This is a lightly peated single malt from The GlenDronach, named Ode to the Embers in tribute to the traditional kilning of malt over peat smoke. It matured in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, mostly first-fill, and is bottled at 48.4% ABV, non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The nose brings cinnamon-spiced toffee, apple and caramelised walnut brittle with flamed orange, over a smouldering open fire. On the palate there are raisin and honeyed walnut, blackberry ganache and smoked chocolate fudge.
