The Glenlivet 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the Livet Valley, in a 1.75 litre bottle. George Smith founded the distillery in 1824, and it was the first in the region to receive a legal licence.
The whisky is matured for 12 years in a mix of European and American oak casks, and is bottled at 40%. It has a bright, vibrant gold colour.
The nose is fruity, with fresh pineapple, apricot, citrus blossom and honeyed malt. The palate is balanced, buttery and silky, with ripe pear, green apple and strong pineapple, layered with vanilla and hazelnut. The finish is long and creamy, with a soft crackle of oaky spice.
