The Glenlivet 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the distillery at Ballindalloch, made in the Livet valley with water from Josie's Well on the estate. The distillery was granted the first legal licence in the Scottish Highlands in 1824, to its founder George Smith. This 12 year old is bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
It is matured in a combination of American and European oak. The American oak brings vanilla and honey, while the European oak adds restrained dried fruit and a light spice edge.
The nose is floral, with vanilla, white peach, honey and fresh pineapple. The palate shows vanilla cream, light citrus and warm baking spice, and the finish is clean, medium in length and slightly floral.
