The Glenlivet – 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve (75cl, 40%)

This is The Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve, a Speyside single malt in a 75cl bottle at 40% (80 proof). It is made by a process The Glenlivet calls Selective Maturation. After 15 years, part of the spirit is moved into virgin French Limousin oak casks from the Dordogne for a second period, then married back into the main blend. The Glenlivet was among the first Scotch distilleries to use French oak. The Limousin oak is of low density, and it is said to add spiciness, sweet vanilla, almond, cinnamon and caramel toffee to the distillery's fruity, floral style. Alan Winchester led its making as Master Distiller.
