The Glenlivet – 15 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

The Glenlivet 15 Year Old is a Speyside single malt, deep gold in colour, in a 70cl bottle at 40% abv. Part of the spirit is matured in French Limousin oak casks, a selective maturation that gives the whisky its rich, exotic character. The oak comes from France's Dordogne region, where it is often used for cognac. Its low density lets the whisky sink deep into the wood, and the time in cask is controlled so the oak does not overpower the result. It leaves traces of sweet almond spice and a pleasing spiciness.
