The Glenlivet – 55 Year Old (42.2%)

The Glenlivet 55 Year Old is the oldest single malt the Speyside distillery has released, and the first of the Eternal Collection, five annual editions marking the distillery's 200th anniversary in 2024. It comes from a seasoned sherry cask and is bottled at a cask strength of 42.2%. Only 100 bottles were produced. The spherical decanter sits inside a hand-sculpted jesmonite sculpture with rose gold plating, designed by computational architect Michael Hansmeyer. The nose offers poached pear, Seville orange and sticky dates, with toasted hazelnut, dark chocolate and warm spice. On the palate come blackcurrant jam, vanilla fudge and crystallised ginger, and the long finish ends in a dry, spicy warmth.
