The Glenlivet Caskmakers is a single malt bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It comes from a collaboration between master coopers in Speyside and cask specialists in Jerez, Spain.
The coopers took ex-Spanish sherry staves and freshly charred European oak staves and rebuilt them into barrels, alternating the two stave by stave. The whisky matures in this hybrid cask, in contact with both kinds of wood at once.
