The Shin Malt Whisky Mizunara Japanese Oak Finish (75cl, 48%)

The Shin Malt Whisky Mizunara Japanese Oak Finish is a Japanese malt whisky bottled at 48% in a 75cl bottle. It was put together by Ken Usami, master blender at Shinobu Distillery, who chose the malt whiskies and finished them in casks made from Japanese Mizunara oak. The brand is made in Niigata, on Japan's west coast, and the name Shin means integrity. It is made without chill-filtration or added colour. The finish brings together the woody character and sandalwood incense of Mizunara with the maltiness of older whiskies. It is described as fruit-forward, with a little pepper and spice at the end.
