Woodford Reserve Batch 0001 is a Kentucky straight malt whiskey, bottled at 45.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from a 51% malt mash and aged in new charred oak barrels, which sets it apart from a typical 100% malt whiskey and builds on the nutty character of the original Woodford Reserve.
The colour is a warm umber. The nose has soft nuts, light caramel and milk chocolate over apple, dried and tropical fruit, with brown spice, mint and toasted oak. The palate brings dark chocolate and caramel-coated nuts, cocoa, brown spice and toasted coconut. The finish is nutty, with subtly sweet chocolate malt.
