This is the official bourbon of the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby, the 2016 race, in a 1 litre bottle at 45.2% ABV (90.4 proof). Woodford Reserve has been the Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby since 1999. The bourbon is Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select, triple distilled in copper pot stills and matured in new charred American oak. The commemorative label shows a painted scene of two thoroughbreds in a close stretch run, and the bottle has a gold neck band and an artist-signed hang tag. The nose has dried fruit, vanilla, toasted oak and baking spice. The palate is smooth and rounded, with caramel, dark dried fruit, cinnamon and toasted oak. The finish is medium to long and warming, with vanilla, dried fruit and a soft oak spice.
