Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select is a Kentucky straight bourbon made at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, on a site where distilling dates back to 1812. It is triple distilled in copper pot stills, matured in new charred American oak and bottled at 45.2% ABV (90.4 proof) in a 75cl bottle.
It is the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby, where it is the base of the Mint Julep.
It pours a rich golden amber. The nose has dried fruit, vanilla and toasted oak, with hints of mint, orange and cocoa. The palate is rounded and full, with caramel, honey and dark chocolate over cinnamon, nutmeg and gentle rye spice. The finish is long and silky, drying slowly with spice, toasted wood and a touch of tobacco.
