Woodford Reserve – Double Oaked (70cl, 43.2%)

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Woodford Reserve Distillery, bottled at 43.2% (90.4 proof) in a 70cl bottle. After the usual maturation it spends a second period in deeply toasted oak casks, which gives it a rich, sweet oak character. The colour is deep amber. The nose is rich with dark fruit, caramel, chocolate, marzipan, toasted oak and honey. The palate is full and velvety, with vanilla, dark caramel, hazelnut, apple, cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long and creamy, with restrained honey sweetness, leather and dark chocolate.
