Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby 149 is the commemorative bottle for the 2023 Kentucky Derby, released in March 2023 in a 1 litre bottle at 45.2% ABV (90.4 proof). Woodford Reserve is the Derby's presenting sponsor.
It marks the 50th anniversary of Secretariat's 1973 Derby win. The label shows Jaime Corum's painting of Secretariat in the Winner's Circle at Churchill Downs. Inside is Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select bourbon, made from 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley, and a neck tag marks the anniversary.
The nose brings toasted oak, vanilla, caramel, dried fruit, mint and orange peel. On the palate are ripe apple and pear, dark chocolate, maple syrup and baking spices, and the finish is long and warm with oak and dried apricot.
