Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye is a rye whiskey from the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky, bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2%) in a 750ml bottle.
The mash bill follows a pre-Prohibition style: 53% rye, 33% corn and 14% malted barley. The spirit is distilled in a combination of copper pot stills and column stills, aged in new charred American oak and bottled non-chill filtered. Chris Morris is the master distiller.
The nose is described as bold rye spice with black pepper, cedar, pear, dried apple and floral notes. On the palate come clove, mint, molasses, toffee and honey, followed by a long, warming finish of spice, florals and toasted oak.
