Woodford Reserve – Master's Collection Five-Malt Stouted Mash (70cl, 45.2%)

This is the Fall 2021 release in the Woodford Reserve Master's Collection, a Kentucky straight malt whiskey bottled at 45.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was made by Master Distiller Chris Morris and Assistant Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall. The idea was a spirit that echoes a rich, roasted stout. The distillery building was put up by Irish stonemasons in 1838 and distils in the Irish style with triple pot stills, which led to an Irish-style stout mash. The nose offers roasted malt, toasted nuts, chocolate and orange, then warm oak, cherry and shortbread. The palate is malty with toasted hazelnut, cocoa, baked fruit, crisp spice and zest, finishing on more malt and chocolate.
