Woodford Reserve – Master's Collection Five-Malt Stouted Mash (70cl, 45.2%)

This is the Fall 2021 release in the Woodford Reserve Master's Collection, a Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey in a 70cl bottle at 45.2% abv. Master Distiller Chris Morris and Assistant Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall set out to make a spirit with the flavours of a rich, roasted malty stout. The mash is based on an Irish-style stout beer, a nod to the distillery building, which Irish stonemasons built in 1838, and to its triple pot stills. The nose brings roasted malt, toasted nuts, chocolate and orange, then warm oak, cherry and shortbread. The palate is malty, with toasted hazelnut, cocoa, baked fruit, crisp spice and zest, and the finish returns to malt and chocolate.
