Aberfeldy – 12 Year Old (75cl, 40%)

Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Aberfeldy Distillery in Perthshire, bottled at 40% in a 750ml bottle. It is made from 100% malted barley and water from the Pitilie Burn. The twelve years were spent in sherry, bourbon, refill and re-char casks. John Dewar's sons built the distillery in 1896, and it has supplied the heart malt for Dewar's blends ever since. A fermentation of around 70 hours is credited with the honey at the centre of the whisky. Honey, spiced fruit and vanilla lead the nose. The palate is syrupy, with vanilla and fudge, and the finish carries a whisper of smoke.
