Aberfeldy 16 Year Old is a Highland single malt from Aberfeldy Distillery, bottled at 40% ABV. It matured mainly in first-fill, refill and re-charred bourbon casks, then spent around six months in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, which give it a deep amber colour.
The nose is honeyed, with citrus peel, clove, baked fruitcake and raisins. On the palate come fruitcake, dried fruit, dark chocolate, vanilla and toffee, with orchard fruit and light clove and ginger. The finish coats the mouth, with dark chocolate, honey, sherry and a little oak spice.
