Aberfeldy – 25 Year Old 125th Anniversary Sherry Cask (70cl, 46%)

This is a 25 year old Highland single malt from Aberfeldy, released in 2023 for the distillery's 125th anniversary. John Alexander Dewar built the distillery in 1898 at the foot of Ben Lawers in Perthshire, beside the Pitilie Burn. The whisky spent over two decades in refill hogsheads and refill butts, then over a year in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The nose brings black treacle, walnut, prune, malt loaf and gingerbread, with cinnamon and dark chocolate. On the palate come blueberry, black cherry, currants, baked orange, pecan pie and molasses. The finish is long and mouth-coating, with chocolate and soft spices.
