This is a 26 year old Highland single malt from Aberfeldy, part of its Exceptional Cask Series, selected by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod. It is bottled at 52.2% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was filled into cask in 1996 and bottled in 2023. Since September 2021 it has been finished in red wine casks from Languedoc Roussillon in southern France, for just over two years.
The nose offers strawberries, mulled wine, orange peel, lemon and vanilla. The palate is creamy and bright, with lemon curd, dried apricot, orange zest and peppery spice. The long finish brings plum tart, candied nuts and more fruit.
