This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from Aberlour, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in two types of cask: former bourbon casks of American oak and hand-picked sherry casks.
The sherry casks bring plenty of fruit and spice to the whisky. Aberlour is also known for the unusually pure spring water from St Drostan's Well, which runs beside the distillery.
The tasting notes mention caramel, pepper, apple and dried fruit, with hints of cocoa and cinnamon. The finish is warm, spicy and sweet.
