Aberlour 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt bottled at 40% ABV. The spirit is matured first in American oak ex-bourbon casks and then in seasoned Spanish oak sherry butts, which gives the Double Cask Matured name.
The nose opens with golden honey, ripe red apple and pear, vanilla toffee and a touch of citrus zest. The palate is smooth and rounded, with tangy orange peel, red apple, liquorice, almond and subtle chocolate and toffee. The finish is warm and lingering, with a sweet arrival, a light hint of cinnamon or ginger spice and gentle oak.
