This is a 16 year old Speyside single malt from Aberlour, part of its Double Cask Matured range and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The double cask maturation combines American oak with sherry casks, and the strongest influence comes from Spanish oak oloroso sherry butts. They bring sweet raisin, floral and nutty spice character.
The nose is scented and floral, with sweet raisin and a touch of spicy nuttiness. The palate is smooth and full, with sweet floral spice, soft plum and gentle oak. The finish is long, warm and fruity, with a restrained lift of spice.
