Aberlour 16 Year Old is a Speyside single malt bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Aberlour was founded in 1879 by James Fleming, where the Lour burn joins the River Spey.
The whisky is double cask matured for sixteen years, in American oak casks and Spanish oak Oloroso sherry butts that mature side by side and are married for bottling. The sherry butts have the stronger influence, adding raisin and nuttiness to the fruity distillate.
The nose is rich and scented, with florals, sweet raisin and spicy nuttiness. The palate is smooth and full, with sweet floral and spicy notes, soft plum fruit and gentle oak. The finish is long, warm and fruity, with a little spice.
