Aberlour 18 Year Old Double Cask is a single malt Scotch whisky matured for eighteen years in two kinds of oak: American oak ex-bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry butts. It is sold in a 75cl bottle.
In the glass it is a deep amber-gold. The nose offers plum jam, orange marmalade and toffee buns, with old cigar box leather, honey and vanilla bean. The palate is thick and velvety, with chocolate-coated raisins, ripe apricots and sweet sherry, plus nutmeg, cinnamon and black tea. The finish is long, with cocoa, orange zest and sweet oak spice.
