Aberlour 18 Year Old is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% in a 75cl bottle.
It is matured in American oak casks that held bourbon and in Spanish oak oloroso sherry butts, then given further time in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The distillery uses twice-distilled spirit made from Scottish malted barley.
The nose opens with toffee and butterscotch, then ripe peach and bitter orange. The palate starts with apricot and vanilla cream, moving to blackcurrant jam, red fruits, old leather and tobacco, with sweet oak and honey. The finish is very long, from crème brûlée sweetness to gentle oak and baking spice.
