Aberlour – A'Bunadh Alba (75cl)

Aberlour A'Bunadh Alba is a Speyside single malt in a 75cl bottle, bottled at cask strength in batches and without an age statement. It is the bourbon-cask companion to the sherry-matured original A'Bunadh. The whisky is matured entirely in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels and is non-chill-filtered. The name is a double reference: Alba is Gaelic for Scotland, and Quercus alba is the American white oak of the barrels. A'Bunadh itself means 'the original' and nods to Aberlour's founder, James Fleming. The nose is sweet apple and pear with honey and vanilla, plus red apple and cinnamon. The palate is citrus-led with baked apple and a hint of almond, and the finish is smooth and sweet with a trace of toasted almond.
