Aberlour – A'bunadh Batch 066 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 61.2%)

A'bunadh is a cask strength Speyside single malt from Aberlour, named with the Gaelic word for the original. The name goes back to 1975, when workers at the distillery found a bottle of its whisky from 1898 wrapped in newspaper. This is batch 066, bottled at 61.2% (122.4 proof) from Spanish Oloroso sherry butts only, with no water added, no chill filtration and no added colour. The nose has mixed spices, praline and spiced orange over rich Oloroso depth. The palate is full bodied and creamy, with orange, black cherry, dried fruit and ginger against dark bitter chocolate. The finish is robust and bittersweet, closing on exotic spice, chocolate and oak.
