Aberlour – A'bunadh Batch 39 (70cl)

Aberlour A'bunadh is a cask strength whisky matured in second-fill oloroso sherry casks, here from batch 39 in a 70cl bottle. The whiskies in the batch range in age from 5 to 25 years. The name is Gaelic for 'the origin'. In 1975, while a pair of stills was being installed at Aberlour distillery, workers found a time capsule holding a bottle of whisky wrapped in an 1898 newspaper. They drank most of it, but a fifth of the bottle was saved and sent to laboratories in Keith, where the whisky was recreated. The first release was bottled in 1997.
