A'Bunadh is a Speyside single malt from Aberlour, bottled in a 75cl bottle at natural cask strength without chill filtration and with no age statement. The strength varies from batch to batch, with recent batches at roughly 60 to 62% ABV.
The name is Gaelic for 'the original', and the whisky is made in homage to Aberlour's founder, James Fleming, who founded the distillery in 1879. It is made in small batches and matured exclusively in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts.
Tasting notes describe mixed spice, praline and spiced orange with pronounced sherry on the nose. The palate is full-bodied and creamy, with orange, black cherries, dried fruit, ginger and dark bitter chocolate, and the finish is long, with exotic spice, dark chocolate and oak.
