Aberlour A'Bunadh is a cask strength Speyside single malt, released in numbered batches at strengths between 59.6% and 61.5% ABV. It comes in a 75cl bottle.
The whisky is matured entirely in first-fill Spanish Oloroso sherry butts and bottled without chill filtration. A'Bunadh is Gaelic for 'the original'. The name comes from a bottle of Aberlour from 1898 that distillery workers found in 1975, and this expression aims to recreate that older style.
The nose brings allspice, praline and spiced orange alongside Oloroso sherry, nutmeg and roasted nuts. The palate is full and creamy, with orange, black cherry and golden raisin, then dark chocolate and ginger. The finish is long, with spice, dark chocolate and oak.
