Aberlour Casg Annamh is a Speyside single malt with no age statement, bottled at 48% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The name is Gaelic for 'Rare Cask', and it is released in numbered small batches from a limited number of selected casks.
The whisky is matured in European oak sherry casks and two types of American oak cask, with Spanish Oloroso sherry casks having the strongest influence. It is bottled non-chill-filtered at the distillery, which James Fleming founded in 1879 where the Lour burn meets the River Spey.
The nose is rich and sweet, with tangy orange, glazed cherries, raisins and ginger. The palate is fruity, with apple and cinnamon crumble and ripe peaches against liquorice and clove. The finish is long and fruity with a touch of dry spice.
