Abuelo XV Finish Collection Oloroso (40%)

Abuelo XV Oloroso is a 15-year-old Panamanian rum from Varela Hermanos, one of three bottlings in the XV Finish Collection. Each is finished in a cask that previously held another spirit or wine, here Oloroso sherry from Spain. It is bottled at 40% ABV. It is a single estate rum: the sugar cane is grown on the producer's own fields, distilled in its own column stills and aged in ex-bourbon casks in its own warehouses. The nose offers leather, vanilla, mandarin and dried fruit. The palate is rich and creamy, with burnt orange peel, apricot and sweet spices. The finish is long, sweet and spicy, with sweet pipe tobacco and orange peel.
