Adelphi Ledaig 3 Year Old 2022 – Cask 5730 (70cl, 58.8%)

This Ledaig is a three-year-old peated malt from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, distilled in 2022 and bottled in 2026 by Adelphi at 58.8%, in a 70cl bottle. It comes from cask 5730, an Oloroso sherry hogshead that produced 296 bottles. Despite its youth, the oloroso cask has clearly left its mark, with peat and sherry answering each other between smoked meat, seaweed and leather. The nose is smoky and meaty, with smoked caramelised beef brisket, seaweed, waxed jacket, teriyaki beef, salmon skin, palo santo, baked apple, leather and bark mulch. The palate is smoky and salty, with smoked beer, smoked sausage, spring onion, Castelvetrano olive, mezcal, pickleback, mackerel and burnt orange. The finish is intense, bold and pleasantly cheeky.
