The E&K is a five-year-old blended malt from Adelphi, made from single malts from Glenrothes, Ardmore and Amrut, the Indian distillery based in Bangalore. It was matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, and 800 bottles were produced.
The name is a tribute to Victor Alexander Bruce, the 9th Earl of Elgin, who became Viceroy of India in 1894.
The nose is honeyed, with a marked vegetal note and habanero chilli. On the palate it is lightly smoky, with ginger, lemon tart and nuts. The finish is fairly peppery and leaves a pleasant tingle on the lips.
